Behavioral Health & Support Services

The Behavioral Health & Support Services (BHSS) Program at the Boys & Girls Club of Pharr–San Juan is dedicated to promoting the mental health, emotional wellbeing, and overall resilience of children, teens, and families throughout our communities. Through a trauma-informed and youth-centered approach, BHSS provides prevention, early intervention, supportive services, and mental health education within a safe and trusted youth development environment.

Our team of licensed mental health professionals, counselors, social workers, prevention specialists, and support staff work collaboratively to create meaningful opportunities for youth to heal, grow, and thrive. BHSS focuses on helping youth strengthen emotional regulation, develop healthy coping skills, build confidence, improve communication, foster healthy relationships, and increase resilience while reducing the stigma surrounding mental health.

Our Mission

By integrating behavioral health services into a positive youth development setting, we help create safe spaces where youth can build healthy relationships, strengthen emotional wellbeing, and develop the tools needed to navigate life’s challenges successfully. Our goal is to support brighter futures by ensuring youth and families have access to compassionate care, meaningful connections, and opportunities for personal growth.

Prevention Services

Prevention Services help youth build healthy coping skills, emotional awareness, confidence, and positive relationships before challenges become bigger concerns. Through group activities and wellness-based programs, youth learn skills that support their overall mental and emotional wellbeing.

Early Intervention Services

Early Intervention Services provide support to youth experiencing emotional, behavioral, or mental health challenges. Through skill-based groups and supportive interventions, youth learn how to manage emotions, improve communication, build coping skills, and navigate challenges in healthy ways before concerns escalate further.

Counseling Services

Counseling Services provide individual, group, and family counseling in a safe and supportive environment. Our licensed mental health professionals help youth manage stress, process emotions, build coping skills, and improve overall emotional wellbeing.
