Youth & Family Support Services at Boys & Girls Club is a collaborative project offered at participating Boys & Girls Clubs throughout Hidalgo County. The network of providers consists of four separate Boys & Girls Club organizations with a total of 26 different club sites and over 25,000 youth served annually. Y&FSS provides mental health prevention, promotion, and early intervention services to children and families in a youth development setting.
Be A STAR
Promotes positive methods of social interaction and encourages young people to treat others as equals and with respect because everyone is a star in their own right. By developing each child’s emotional intelligence, children can become happier, healthier and more compassionate, leading to a drastic increase in the ability to manage conflict and reduce bullying.
Teaches teens to examine their feelings about dating and relationships. It is intended to increase young people’s understanding and build skills needed to achieve healthy relationships free of violence and abuse.
Community Awareness & Promotion
In an effort to remove the stigma associated with mental health and encourage an open dialogue, Boys & Girls Clubs host and attend community-wide events, community presentations, parent workshops, and other special events that raise awareness about Mental Health issues that affect our region.
For children who may be dealing with a pressing issue that is interrupting their development Y&FSS provides early intervention services including:
- Crisis Resolution
