Ross Dress for Less Helps Local Youth & Teens Learn in Pharr, TX

In-store giving campaign provided $5,000 to The Boys and Girls Club of Pharr-San Juan

Every year, just over 7,000 youth and teens are served by Boys & Girls Club of Pharr – San Juan. To show their continued support in preparing today’s youth for a bright tomorrow, Ross Stores, Inc. partnered with the Boys & Girls Club to provide a program called, “Help Local Kids Learn.” Throughout the month of August, Ross Dress for Less located at 500 N Jackson Rd Ste G, Pharr, TX 78577 participated by offering local customers the opportunity to contribute a monetary donation during checkout.

Matt Young, Ross Stores Group Senior Vice President stated his support to the national campaign prior to kick off.
“For the ninth year in a row, Ross is very excited to host our annual Help Local Kids Learn in-store fundraiser for the Boys & Girls Clubs. This fundraiser will directly help kids at local Clubs across the country by supporting Power Hour, a homework tutoring program, nationally sponsored by Ross. We are proud of our strong, long-standing partnership with BGCA. It is rooted in our shared commitment to help young people reach their full potential as productive, caring, and responsible citizens,” said Matt Young, Group Senior Vice President, Ross Stores

Through the campaign and the support of the community, Pharr’s Ross Dress for Less provided Boys & Girls Club of Pharr-San Juan with a generous monetary donation of $5,000, which will directly impact the organization’s Power Hour Program. This educational program is implemented every weekday through BGCPSJ’s Afterschool program at their 4 club site locations. Power Hour encourages academic success by providing homework help, tutoring, and high-yield learning activities and motivating members to become self-directed learners.

Boys & Girls Club of Pharr – San Juan Chief Executive Officer shared his gratitude for the continued support from Ross.

Boys & Girls Club of Pharr – San Juan continues to serve as a positive, out of school experience for youth, teens, and families of Pharr, San Juan and surrounding communities. The mission of BGCPSJ is to provide a safe and nurturing environment to enable all children to reach their full potential as productive, caring and responsible individuals. This is implemented each week day through various program areas led by trained, caring and skilled mentors. Daily programs include: Education Assistance, Technology, Arts & Crafts, Health, Teen Center, Physical Fitness, Recreation, Meals, Socializing and the Behavioral Health & Support Services Program which focuses on mental health & wellness.
